  • Progressive side wagers: Games like Caribbean Stud Poker commonly offer one of these. You normally put a wager ($1 is the usual value) to attempt to win a bonus jackpot that could be upwards of $25,000. Although huge jackpots like these are particularly alluring, they’re also very difficult to win. You might need to hit a Royal Flush in order to hit this bet. Also, think about this- you wager twenty hands and place the side bet each time. That’s $20 you could have used towards the real game wager in place of a sucker wager. Picture what you might have been able to win at a wager with better odds using that twenty dollars.
  • Single number wagers in Roulette: This is completely true for American Roulette. Why? American Roulette has two 0’s on the wheel, as opposed to European Roulette, which has just one. This takes the complete house edge from two% with a single zero wheel to a huge 5% in American. The single number bet has just a one in thirty eight chance of succeeding, which are very long odds indeed. Bet on even-odd or black-red bets instead which have a much smaller house advantage.
  • Keno: Any variation of Keno, and anyway you wager on it, the casino edge can be a huge 25%. Yes, that is not a typo. Due to the huge amount of numbers you have to pick, it’s not recommended to gamble on Keno to often. A number of times for fun, perhaps. But don’t spend all your money on it or you’ll immediately find yourself beaten.
